Upload a UTF-8 CSV containing a USDOT or MC column. CarrierTrail identifies missing records, duplicates, paused carriers, mismatched identifiers and MC numbers that match more than one USDOT. Nothing is added until you review the preview and confirm the eligible rows.
Keep large imports moving
Confirmed imports continue in bounded background batches if you close the browser. Paid access and remaining monitoring capacity are checked while rows are processed. Download the complete row report to see what was added and what needs correction.
Export the complete result
Download the full active watchlist or the carriers matching a current search and decision filter. Detailed reports are available as CSV or Excel and include supported qualification, change, source and safety fields. Generated spreadsheet cells are protected against formula execution.
Use a stable spreadsheet workflow
The version-1 format retains USDOT and MC headings, so an export can be uploaded again. Re-importing resolves carrier identities but does not replace saved team decisions, notes or evidence. Exchange is by file: you upload and download standard CSV whenever you choose.
Example: moving a carrier list out of a spreadsheet
- Upload: save your carrier list as a CSV with a USDOT column, an MC column or both, and upload it from the dashboard.
- Preview: every row is matched to a USDOT record and labelled: ready to add, already on your watchlist, duplicate, paused, missing, identifiers that disagree, or an MC number that matches more than one USDOT.
- Confirm: choose how many of the ready rows to add. Nothing joins the watchlist before this step.
- Import: rows are added in the background in batches of 50 and keep going if you close the browser.
- Report: download the row report to see what was added and which rows to correct and upload again.
Limits and formats
- Import file: UTF-8 CSV, up to 256 KB and 5,000 carrier rows.
- Columns: USDOT, MC or both. When a row has both, they must point to the same carrier.
- Previews: ten an hour per workspace, each kept for 24 hours. Row reports are kept for 30 days.
- Quick export: every active carrier on your watchlist, or the carriers matching the current search and decision filter, as CSV.
- Detailed reports: CSV or Excel with qualification, change, source, safety and fleet fields. Download links last 24 hours.
Questions brokers ask
How many carriers can I import at once?
Up to 5,000 rows in one file of 256 KB or less. The number added is limited by the open monitoring slots on your plan.
Will an import overwrite my notes or decisions?
No. Carriers already on your watchlist are skipped, and saved decisions, notes and evidence stay as they are. New carriers start as Pending.
What if an MC number matches more than one USDOT?
The row is flagged in the preview. Add the intended USDOT number to that row and upload the file again.
Can I open the export in Excel?
Yes. Detailed reports come as CSV or Excel, identifiers are stored as text so they keep their exact digits, and formula-like values are escaped.
