Set the rules once for the whole team
A workspace owner switches on automatic assessments and chooses the rules: the authority type a carrier must hold as active, an active census record, a Satisfactory safety rating, a published insurance filing and how old the public data may be. Every member sees the same rules. Each save creates a new version and earlier versions are kept.

Three results on every saved carrier
Open a saved carrier and CarrierTrail checks it against the rules in force: Meets your rules, Needs review or Does not meet your rules. Each check is listed with its own result and the record it was based on, so a reviewer can see which rule decided the outcome.
Missing or old data goes to review
A carrier with no safety rating, no published insurance filing, mixed authority statuses or public data older than your limit is marked Needs review. CarrierTrail asks a person to look whenever the public record cannot answer the question.
Your decision stays yours
The result informs the reviewer and the team still decides. Approving a carrier that needs review or does not meet the rules requires a written reason, and that reason is saved with the decision together with the rules and their version.
Example: a new carrier with no safety rating
- Rules in force: policy version 3 asks for active property authority, an active census record, a Satisfactory safety rating and a published insurance filing.
- Checks: authority, census record and insurance filing meet the rules. The safety rating check reads Needs review because the carrier is not rated.
- Result: the carrier shows Needs review.
- Decision: the reviewer reads the carrier’s inspection history, writes why the carrier is acceptable and approves it. The reason and policy version 3 are saved with the decision record.
The rules an owner can set
- Required active authority: Property (excluding household goods), Household goods, Passengers or Enterprise property carrier.
- Active census record: the carrier’s census status must be active.
- Satisfactory safety rating: a Conditional or Unsatisfactory rating does not meet the rule, and a carrier with no rating needs review.
- Published insurance filing: at least one insurance filing published for the carrier. Coverage amounts and policy terms stay with your own insurance review.
- Maximum source age: how old the public data may be, from 24 to 168 hours (one to seven days), 72 hours by default.
